Iceolation 2016 Call for Artists

 

The 10th annual Iceolation Art Show opens March 19th at the Snowcastle then moves to the Down to Earth Gallery from March 20-26.

 

Any artist, creating in any medium can submit work with an icy, snowy, or wintery theme.  This is going to be Down to Earth's FINAL Iceolation Art Show so if you ever had an idea to submit this is the year.

The Aesthetica Art Prize 2016 is now open for entries. Now in its ninth year, the Prize presents an opportunity for emerging and established artists to showcase their work and further their engagement with the international art world

YK ARCC presents: Neil Dyck - Artist in Residence

 

Through the support of the NWT Arts Council the Yellowknife Artist-Run Community Centre will welcome painter Neil Dyck for a two weeks residency starting Tuesday, February 16th, 2016.

Neil Dyck is a Manitoban artists that works intuitively on hard board to create non-representational paintings, Dyck's rudimental investifations embrace a harmony of collage an painting. YELLOWKNIFE (February 11, 2016) – The Northwest Territories (NWT) film industry is receiving major international exposure at one of the world’s most prestigious short film festivals thanks to the work and talents of two of its longtime ambassadors.

 

Yellowknife filmmakers Pablo Saravanja and Jay Bulckaert of the Artless Collective presented Conibear — an original horror short — to a packed audience at the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival last night.

NWT On-The-Land Collaborative Fund

 

What is the NWT On-The-Land Collaborative Fund (OTL Collaberative Fund)?

The Fund was created to promote and support on-the-land initiatives in the NWT by providing easier access to funding and other resources. There is a lot of interest in on-the-land programs, but finding the money to run these programs can be a lot of work for communities and organizations that have to apply to many different places to get the funding and support they need.

Call for Presenter for Junction Artist in Residence (JAR) program 2016 - Sewing Through a Landscape: fashion or clothing art related workshop

Three exciting months of fashion + clothing art awaiting you in Haines Junction mid July to mid October 2016.
JAR has a public Craft Workshop Weekend coming up on the 2nd weekend in August 2016, Friday 12th to Sunday 14th, in Haines Junction.

 The Accidentals are a newly formed Yellowknife-based a cappella group that are looking for a bass/baritone to round out their group. They meet to rehearse every Thursday evening at 7:30pm and perform a wide range of music.

If you're a bass/baritone with a good sense of fun and the ability to read music, they're interested in you! Sight reading experience is preferred but not necessary as long as you're willing and able to practice on your own time as well. Interested?

The producers of the award winning film THROAT SONG are holding Open Call auditions for THE GRIZZLIES, a new feature film based on the inspiring true story of a group of Inuit students in a struggling Arctic community, whose lives are changed by the transformative power of team sports. 

They are scouting Canada’s North (NWT, Nunavut, Nunavik) for Inuit boys and girls to play lead roles in the movie, which will begin shooting in Iqaluit, Nunavut in April 2016.
